Research Interests

My interests lie the links between Europe and the modern Middle East. My work explores the rise of German multinational corporations and their involvement in shaping the politics of water in Turkey, Iraq, and Syria during the first half of the twentieth century. This intersects with histories of the environment, capitalism, colonialism, infrastructure, nationalism and preservation of local cultural heritage.
