Past Time, Past Place:
3D Reconstruction Modeling for Examining Historic Sites
Wednesday, March 2nd
4:00 PM
Stevenson Fireside Lounge
Elaine Sullivan, Assistant Professor
History, UC Santa Cruz
Archaeologists and historians are utilizing improving 3D technologies to create scholarly reconstructions of ancient places. These visualizations of now-disappeared spaces offer new potential for the examination of the ancient world. In this talk, Professor Sullivan will present her work on the 3D Saqqara project, a 3D visualization of the Egyptian necropolis of Saqqara. The project attempts to re-imagine the built and natural environment of the cemetery through space and time, accessing human perception and experience in the landscapes.
A reception will follow the event.
