In conjunction with the 2013 Founders Celebration, UC Santa Cruz presents,

Ed Talks: Local Roots, Global Impact

Co-hosts UCSC Chancellor George Blumenthal and Santa Cruz Mayor Hilary Bryant invite you to three short, TED-style talks by distinguished UCSC faculty, including History Professor Alan Christy.

Alan Christy is an Associate Professor of History, East Asian Studies Director, Co-Director of the Center for the Study of Pacific War Memories, and 2012 recipient of the Dizikes Faculty Teaching Award in Humanities. He has received high praise from students and colleagues alike for his ability to inspire undergraduates to pursue cutting-edge research and for promoting serious collaboration with colleagues on pedagogical and intellectual questions involving digital humanities.

The Founders Celebration is an annual commemoration of UCSC's founders' vision and all that has transpired here since students first arrived in 1965. This year's festivities include the public launch on Friday of our first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign, The Campaign for UC Santa Cruz.
