Many of you know and love the History Department button. The design has served us well for many years, but we feel now is the time for a fresh new look! Therefore, the department is pleased to announce its first ever History Department Button Design Contest. The wining submission will be selected as the official logo for the History Department button, and the creator will be awarded a $100 gift certificate to the Baytree Bookstore!

Design Submission Guidelines

1. All submissions must be original artwork or available for use a) by permission or b) because the image/art is in the public domain. Copyrighted works/images may not be included in your design.

2. Designs must be able to fit on a 1.5 inch round, square or diamond shaped button, 2 inch square or diamond shaped button, or 2.25 inch round shaped button.

3. Design should be submitted as JPEGs, PDFs, Photoshop, or Illustrator files.

4. Feel free to get creative. Designs may be serious, ironic, abstract, funny, etc. Also, you are not restricted to "historical" or "history specific" designs (but you are more than welcome to do so if you are inspired!). Any and all appropriate designs will be considered. IE: Please don't send me designs that depict historical figures making obscene gestures! Keep it, in the broadest sense, classy.

5. Please include one or two sentences about the inspiration for your design.

6. Submissions are due no later than Monday, April 9th. All submissions should be made by email to historyundergrad@ucsc.edu.
