Cynthia Thickpenny graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2010 with a B.A. in History (with Highest Honors), but her career in History is just beginning. During her career at UCSC, Cynthia was a recipient of the Humanities Undergraduate Research Award and a scholarship in conjunction with the John Dizikes Teach Award.
Then, last winter, Cynthia was awarded the Marshall Scholarship; only the second undergraduate to do so in UCSC's 45-year history.
This extremely prestigious award will allow Cynthia to follow her passion and study Early Medieval Scottish history at the University of Glasgow, Scotland from 2011-2013.
