The History Department invites you to join us for a memorial gathering in honor of our dear colleague, Maya Peterson. We will gather to mourn her unexpected passing and celebrate her contributions as a teacher, mentor, and scholar.
The gathering will take place on Tuesday, April 12th at 4:30pm outside at the Cowell College Provost House, and will include brief remarks by some of Maya’s students and colleagues. A reception will follow where we will have an opportunity to visit and reflect together.

If you’re unable to attend but wish to share reflections or thoughts, please do so through the RSVP form. We will gather the comments into an album to share with Maya’s parents. The album will also be available for attendees to write in at the event.
To honor the memory of Maya’s intellectual spirit and passion for the study of history, the History Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz invites colleagues, students, family and friends to contribute to the Maya K. Peterson Memorial Fund.
