Ashish Sahni, Assistant Chancellor/Campus Diversity Officer for Staff and Students, announced on May 24, 2010 the recipients of the Seventh Annual 2010 Chancellor’s Achievement Awards for Diversity.

These awards honor and showcase campus faculty, staff, students, and programs that have made outstanding contributions to support diversity and inclusion at UCSC.

Matthew Palm, fourth-year undergraduate student and History major, received this award for his work as Commissioner of Academic Affairs with the Student Union Assembly (SUA), along with Leda Hernandez, undergraduate student and commissioner of diversity with the SUA.

The SUA Commissioner of Academic Affairs represents the student body in the Academic Senate, which sets academic standards for the university, such as general education requirements (among others). Matt was elected to this position in the Spring of 2009.
