The UC Santa Cruz Disability Resource Center (DRC) honored three History faculty members and one History staff member this past spring for their efforts to foster a community of acceptance for students with disabilities. The DRC Recognition Reception, hosted by Ashish Sahni, Assistant Chancellor/Chief of Staff and Campus Diversity Officer for Staff and Students, took place on May 4, 2010.

Professor Mark Traugott and Undergraduate Program Coordinator Stephanie Sawyer were among a select group of campus leaders honored for their exemplary efforts to create a welcoming campus climate for students with disabilities, especially those with learning, psychological, and other disabilities that are not always apparent.

In addition, Professor David Anthony and Lecturer Matthew Lasar were among faculty members honored for their implementation of instructional strategies that reach a wide range of learning styles, including the needs of students with disabilities.

The History department congratulates its extraordinary faculty and staff on being recognized for their dedicated efforts to cultivate a diverse and tolerant community!
