Spring Spotlight 2008

The History Department would like to extend a warm welcome to prospective students and their families. Please take the following opportunities to learn more about our program.


Meet with an Adviser
Prospective students and parents are invited to meet with the History Department undergraduate adviser, Stephanie Bauman, daily from 4 – 5pm in Humanities 1, room 201. The only exception is April 14th when she is available from 1 – 2pm.

Campus visitors are invited to attend the following History Department events:

Andrei Markovits, Karl W. Deutsch Professor of Comparative Politics and German Studies, University of Michigan, "Sport Culture and Jewish Identity in the United States and Europe in the 20th Century"
Monday, April 7, 2008 at 4pm in Humanities I, room 210. This is a Gold Lecture sponsored by the Center for Jewish Studies.

Kuroda Akinobu, Professor of East Asian History at the Institute of Oriental Culture, University of Tokyo, "Multiple Monies: A Comparative History of Currency Circuits in China, Japan, Bengal, and the Red Sea Region, 1700-1900"
Tuesday, April 8, Humanities 1, Room 520 at 2pm.

PBS Documentary “Cities of Light: The Rise and Fall of Islamic Spain" a film by Unity Productions featuring Brian Catlos, Associate Professor of History.
Wednesday, April 16, 4 - 6:30pm, Stevenson Event Center (sponsored by Stevenson College). Professor Catlos will answer questions following the showing. Learn more about this event, here.
