Professor Yasur-Landau Awarded Fellowship Professor Assaf Yasur-Landau has recently co-initiated a research group titled Interconnections and Regional Narratives in Mediterranean Archeology (ca. 1700-700 BCE). The group, composed of leading scholars in the archaeology of Israel, Egypt, Greece, and Anatolia, has been accepted for the Institute of Advanced Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS) of Jerusalem is a national science institution devoted to academic research, championing outstanding scholarly research in a wide range of disciplines. 3-4 selected groups of scholars from all fields of academic research gather each year for collaborative research on a focused topic. This research group will address the tension between pan-Mediterranean perspectives in history and archaeology, as opposed to perspectives more oriented to the uniqueness of each regional narrative. Wishing to explore a wide range of cultural phenomena in the eastern Mediterranean, this group will attempt to define similarities and differences in the patterns of inter- and intra-regional interaction and development within this wide framework.
