Modern Japanese and East Asian history; U.S. bases in Japan

Interests 
I am a first year PhD student with an interest in postwar Japanese history. I am particularly interested in understanding the role and impact of the U.S. military presence in Japan, particularly when viewed from the Japanese perspective. My other interests include world history, globalization, colonialism, and Sino-Japanese relations.
