I research sports and physical culture in the People’s Republic of China. My current research projects looks at large-scale international competitions in the 1950s and 1960s, the "Two Chinas" policy in the International Olympic Committee, and the Games of the New Emerging Forces (GANEFO).

Other research interests in modern China include the government-sponsored work-study movements in the early twentieth century in which students studied at several French universities (Le Mouvement Travail-Études)

Other teaching area(s) and interests: modern East Asian history, world history, and the use of digital media in history research and teaching
